Anta Feria 2013 - Yearmarket of the Cusco Region
I like events like this - they are a mirrow of the society. The feria is absolutely nothing that is set up for abroads tourists. In fact I saw now other Gringo that day on the market. To some extent this happening could be anywhere in the world: Farmers can check new agricultural machines, there is live music, plenty to eat and drink, for the children threre are mary go rounds and candy, animals compete in beauty contests and so on.
On the other hand of course it is a window to local details. The variety of different corn and potatos will impress. Also the many different fruits shown are great. Next to the cattle and sheep that are held here also the more native animals are presented. Lamas and Alpacas are present and the cuy plays its role. However, one might know, here they have a place in the food chain for humans, they do not live as pets. Projects of local communities are presentet and finally anything for the household and clothes can be bought of course.

Ein klassischer Jahrmarkt wie er vielleicht überall auf der Welt stattfinden könnte. Andererseits eine beeindruckende Visitenkarte der Region: Man mag kaum glauben, wie viele Sorten Kartoffeln und Mais hier produziert werden. Dieses Event kann vor allem auch jenen empfohlen werden, die nach dem aktuellen Alltag der Menschen hier suchen, Touristen wird man auf der Feria keine finden.
